It’s strange how things come around again.

In this scene of my play ‘Welcome To My Cuntry: There’s No One Here So Come On In’, Chris is in an awkward predicament. He’s been flirting with his nemesis on his late-night radio show and his best friend has caught him out and stirs him up about it on air.

Between the two of them, will they succeed in summoning The Devil? You can watch this scene of my play here on Youtube: https://youtu.be/uHAb1vWtTks. As I reveal scenes from my play, concurrently with my upcoming podcast ‘Storytime with Shamin’ Shaz’, we can decide collectively if this production about my mystical experience (and subsequent crucifixion) espouses ‘good Christian values’.

For my Year 7 English students who may be reading this, you may recall that we learned about irony while studying A Midsummer Night’s Dream last year. That I may have been accused of undermining ‘good Christian values’ by producing this play is about as beautifully ironic as it gets.

What Chris discovers during the course of the play is that to summon The Devil, he must use her true and proper name. She is one with the darkness, so therefore, she is ‘the ka’ – the ‘soul’ of the world.

What happened in ‘the real world’ (if there is such a thing) is that Declan, Chris’ co-host, was so excited about Chris engaging with his dark side, that he nearly poked himself in the eye with a pen. Chris then expressed his true feelings for his nemesis by playing ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ by The Rolling Stones. A nice touch.

Now, far be it from me to give Chris directorial advice about his podcast but I suspect his audience would like to see him getting excited about something… Just how dead can something be and still be brought back to life? Here’s a scenario: Detective Kennett gets murdered by his nemesis, but his friends and associates are so outraged that they succeed in bringing him back to life again. Then he is murdered again by his nemesis, and so on… Hang on, this sounds familiar…

Can we generalise this scenario? Is it possible to triangulate The Saucy Code of Existence by using necromancy? Would it be scientific? Would it be a nuclear explosion, in slow motion? I think this is a question for my friend Robert Lawrence Kuhn.

Whatever else is true, one thing’s for certain: The Devil is a mathematician. She’s been in position all along – always has been, always will be.
